Nova Scotia Department of Education - Student Assistance
Each provincial government has its own financial assistance programs for post-secondary students. Nova Scotia government student loans offer features such as interest relief, a debt reduction program for graduates, and many online features. You can apply online at http://studentloans.ednet.ns.ca/ , check the status of your loan, or download forms.
Bank of Montreal - Brain Money©
The Brain Money Student Line of Credit is different from a traditional loan because once approved, students only take out what they need, when they need it, as many times as they need to (up to their credit limit). Plus, they can use it for whatever they want - it's totally up to them. Interest is only paid on the amount that is actually used.
The main features of this program for full and part-time students are:
- Any full or part-time student is eligible to borrow up to $20,000 during the course of their studies
- Students qualify for a low interest rate that is set monthly at the bank's prime rate plus one percentage point
- Usual credit criteria must be met, including the identification of a co-signer
- Graduates make affordable monthly payments (beginning with interest-only payments) up to one year after graduation, and then gradually increase principal and interest payments over six years
For more information on this package call 1-800-665-9665, or on the Internet at http://www.bmo.com/BrainMoney. |
